John Laughter, Senior Vice President-Corporate Safety, Security and Compliance for Delta Air Lines and Karen Tracy-Executive Vice President EVP Talent Management for Oldcastle joined Atlanta Habitat for Humanity board of directors this summer.

“John and Karen’s enthusiasm and leadership are greatly welcomed on our board,” says Darryl Y. Hicks, Atlanta Habitat Board Chair. “This is an exciting and honorable time to be a part of Atlanta Habitat as it stretches to continue to empower families through homeownership and to revitalize neighborhoods in a whole new way.”

Atlanta Habitat board members serve three-year terms and are volunteers who come from a variety of backgrounds with the resources, wisdom, and passion to lead in constructive, effective, and meaningful ways. The board is responsible for setting the overall direction of the organization including strategic goals, finances and governance policies.

“Our board members fuel our success in enabling working families to buy their first home, to dream beyond the build, and for us to work in partnership with other homeowners to rebuild Atlanta’s communities,” says Atlanta Habitat President and CEO Lisa Y. Gordon. “We are honored to have this additional fire power to our board.”

Atlanta Habitat is on target to construct around 50 new homes this year and to rehab and perform critical repairs to nearly 50 homes in Dixie Hills, English Avenue, Lakewood Heights, Vine City and other Atlanta neighborhoods. The organization made an annual $6 million economic investment in Atlanta last year.
