The Electronic Transactions Association announced that the FinTech Initiative of the Clark Atlanta University Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurial Development has been selected as one of only four leading payments startup accelerators/ incubators to participate in TRANSACT on April 17-19 in Las Vegas, NV.

TRANSACT is the world’s largest payments technology event and attracts key decision makers in Financial Technology, which is a unique line of business that involves the design, development, creation, use and maintenance of information systems for a whole range of financial transactions and related enterprises and their consumers.  The CAU-CIED recently launched its efforts in FinTech and is collaborating with Comcast NBCUniversal’s The Farm in developing the initiative.

“Through collaborative endeavors like our recent Financial Technology Initiative with Comcast NBCUniversal’s The Farm, The Center seeks to ignite new ideas and new opportunities that benefit the industry” said Clark Atlanta University President Dr. Ronald A. Johnson. “ Today’s announcement from ETA is just one more example of how CAU is fulfilling its commitment to creating the next generation of entrepreneurs and innovators.”

At TRANSACT, the CAU-CIED will lead a delegation at the event that will consist of select Financial Technology startup candidates from its program:

- Cryptionary/Renaissance Labs - first ever blockchain and cryptocurrency glossary app, which was created in order to further the ecosystem by reducing the delta between dollars invested and education. App is created by Renaissance Labs which develops blockchain and cryptocurrency related products and services

- Freeing Returns- a mobile phone app that offers a unique way for users to return bought items to stores. Freeing Returns is a proven solution to returns fraud, which is a huge potential cost to retailers, big and small

- Loanable- developer of a digital platform that enable users to create, fund, and auto-repay friends and family loans online

- SwiftPayMD a mobile charge capture, medical billing, and business intelligence platform used by healthcare providers and healthcare provider organizations. The product is created by Iconic Data, which develops cloud based enterprise health information technology computing applications

The CAU-CIED will join three other accelerators from around the country to participate in NextGen Park, a showcase making its inaugural debut at this year’s TRANSACT.

NextGen Park will include space for the accelerators/incubators and their startups to host meetings, showcase their products, and network with the more than 4000 payments technology decision-makers that are expected to attend the show.

“Startups have the power to significantly change and disrupt industries by bringing new and innovative products to market. Nowhere is this truer than in the payments industry,” said ETA CEO Jason Oxman. “Many of the titans of today were the startups of yesterday. That’s why we are focused on bringing leading incubators and their startups to center of the show floor at TRANSACT, where payments industry executives from industry leaders meet to chart a path towards the future.”

TRANSACT, April 17-19, 2018, will bring together all parts of the payments ecosystem – from ISOs/VARs to ISVs and large financial institutions to technology companies, to meet, see what’s new, and learn what it takes to grow. Through extensive networking events, education and a robust exhibit hall filled with more than 200 companies, attendees will learn about groundbreaking technology, security trends and policies affecting the industry.
