Synovus Bank is working with Action Ministries for a sixth consecutive year in support of the nonprofit’s Feed the Hungry Food Box and SuperPacks programs. Now through October 5, 2018, customers and supporters can visit participating Synovus Bank Locations in the Metro Atlanta and Northwest Georgia regions and donate $5 for a food box to help feed a family for up to five days.

Last year, friends and customers of Synovus exceeded their goal of $50,000 by raising more than $74,000 to sponsor 11,708 food boxes and 2,765 SuperPacks, providing nearly 309,280 meals to hungry families across North Georgia. The goal this year is to again meet or exceed $50,000 to continue sponsoring food boxes and SuperPacks and providing meals to families in need.  The six-year total raised by bank customers and friends exceeds $300,000, sponsoring 60,000 boxes and providing 1.5 million meals.

At each participating Synovus Branch, associates will help customers learn about the program, and how each $5 donation helps Action Ministries pack a food box containing staples and nonperishables, providing several days’ worth of meals.

“We continue to be inspired by the compassion and generosity of our team members, our customers, and our communities each year as we support the remarkable work of Action Ministries in helping to provide more than 300,000 meals for hungry families,” said Rob Garcia, Division CEO, North Georgia Division, Synovus.  “We are proud to support Action Ministries’ meaningful work in our state.”

“With its outstanding support, Synovus bank continues to expand its reach throughout north Georgia by allowing customers to be part of real solutions to help lead people out of poverty in their own communities. Action Ministries, with the support of Synovus and its customers and other partners, is giving hope to people in need. Serving over 120,000 Georgians each year, the need for our services continues,” said S. Kelley Henderson, president & CEO of Action Ministries. “By meeting the basic needs of hunger relief, housing and education, Action Ministries removes barriers that prevent thousands of Georgians from breaking the cycle of poverty and realizing their potential.”

Supporters do not have to be a Synovus customer to participate. Anyone can give by visiting a participating Synovus branch or by donating online at https://actionministries.net/events/inthebox/.
