Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is once again the most efficient airport in the world as determined by the Air Transport Research Society (ATRS). 2020 marks the 17th consecutive year ATL received the society’s top award. ATRS, the world’s leading academic society in the air transportation field, determines the award by measuring and comparing the operational and management efficiency, cost competitiveness, and financial performances for more than 200 airports worldwide. The ATRS Airport Benchmarking Task Force includes leading professors and researchers from around the world.

“Excellence and efficiency have always been the standard at Hartsfield-Jackson,” said Airport General Manager John Selden.

“I see it every day throughout our facility. Using whatever metric you wish, from empirical to anecdotal, our team does an outstanding job and is most worthy of this distinguished honor.”

The award was announced at the 2020 ATRS Global Airport Efficiency Award ceremonies, which was held virtually July 2.
