Earlier this month, Georgia Power Area Manager Toni Hannah and ChiQuita George, Citizens of Georgia Power – Metro East chapter treasurer presented a $1,300 donation to the Georgia Piedmont Technical College (GPTC) to offset expenses towards the GPTC Remote Learning Center.

The “learning pods” at the center are used for children attending DeKalb, Rockdale and Newton County schools through remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Children who live in those counties are welcome to attend the learning center during the school day instead of staying home. The number of pods available is limited and social distancing is implemented. There are also aides on-hand to assist students with school work.

The GPTC Remote Learning Center has proven to be a great resource for parents and guardians that work in essential jobs during the pandemic and are unable to stay at home with their children to support virtual learning.
