The Center for Civic Innovation Introduces New Board Members

Wednesday, March 16th, 2022

The Center for Civic Innovation (CCI), a coalition of Atlanta’s good troublemakers who help drive transformative policy change, is proud to introduce the organization’s newly elected Board of Directors for 2022.

Over the past several years, CCI has led with intentionality to ensure their internal business practices reflect both their mission and who they are as an organization. As a result, the board structure reflects the necessary expertise to carry out their mission-centered work and is poised to help the organization grow and scale their vision of a better and more equal Atlanta.

Current board member, Georgia State University (GSU) Law Professor Tanya Washington, will take over as board chair, stepping into the role previously led by Brian McGowan. McGowan’s remarkable leadership was particularly notable over the last two years, helping CCI pivot and successfully maintain business operations at the start of and through the global pandemic.

“It is an honor to serve on CCI’s board and to support the organization's role in making Atlanta a city that supports all the citizens of our beloved community," said Professor Washington. “I appreciate that CCI is thoughtful and intentional about highlighting, supporting, and amplifying the work, talent, and voices of emerging leaders and innovators in this great city!"

CCI’s 2022 Board of Directors are:

  • Tanya Washington, Georgia State University, Board Chair
  • Cambria Porter, Equifax, Vice Chair
  • Latresa McLawhorn Ryan, Atlanta Wealth Building Initiative, Treasurer
  • LaRhonda Jackson, American Cancer Society, Secretary
  • Dori Pap, Georgia Tech, Member
  • Rohit Malhotra, Center for Civic Innovation, Non-Voting Member

“We’re incredibly thankful to Brian McGowan for his leadership over the past several years, and I have no doubt that Professor Washington will continue to exceptionally support our work as we strengthen and expand our impact in Atlanta,” said Rohit Malhotra, founder and executive director of CCI. “I’m so proud of our board and how it truly reflects our mission, culture, and commitment to innovative problem solving for some of Atlanta’s most pressing inequality issues.”
