The Board of Directors of Atlanta Life Financial Group (ALFG) and its President & Chief Executive Officer, William J. Taggart, are pleased to announce the appointments of Roosevelt Giles as Chairman, and William J. Stanley, III as Vice Chair, Board of Directors of Atlanta Life Financial Group.

Mr. Giles, who replaces Egbert L. J. Perry, has served on the Atlanta Life Financial Group Board since 2000 and as Vice Chair since 2008.

Mr. Stanley, the appointee selected to fill Mr. Giles vacated post, has served as an Atlanta Life Financial Group Board member since 2005. Mr. Stanley also serves as Chairman of ALFG’s majority stockholder, the Herndon Home Foundation.

“I am very excited about serving as chairperson for this historic company,” said Mr. Giles. “As Vice-Chair I had the pleasure of working closely with our past Chair Egbert Perry. During our tenure, we weathered several storms and celebrated many victories. Now the company is well positioned for growth anchored, in part, by Egbert’s thought-leadership and commitment to excellence. He will be sorely missed.”

“I have enjoyed my 10 years of service as a Director at Atlanta Life Financial Group,” said Egbert L. J. Perry. “I am very proud of the transformation that has taken place at the company and strongly feel that ALFG continues to have a very bright future.”

"Roosevelt’s elevation to board chair provides the leadership and transformation continuity that will ensure that the company continues on the track of financial growth and prosperity,” said ALFG President & CEO Bill Taggart.

The ALFG Board of Directors welcomes three new members to the Board: Maryann Bruce, Asset Management Industry veteran; Chris Morris, Managing Partner, Tatum; and Steve Rabb, Vice President, Corporate and Distinguished Partners, American Cancer Society.

“The additions of Ms. Bruce, Mr. Morris and Mr. Rabb add specific industry expertise required to support the growth of our existing subsidiaries and the development and launch of new ventures already in the pipeline,” said Taggart. “ALFG will benefit from each individual’s background, experience and personal commitment to extending the legacy of our founder, Alonzo F. Herndon.”

“We are excited to have Ms. Bruce, Mr. Morris and Mr. Rabb join the ALFG Board of Directors,” said Giles. “We have a number of strategic options under consideration that will help to grow our bottom-line and we look forward to making monumental progress. This is indeed a very exciting time for ALFG.”

In addition to Perry, Roy Barnes and W. Pitts Carr will not return to the 2014 Atlanta Life Financial Group Board of Directors.
