Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau announced the city experienced 80 percent occupancy in July, according to Smith Travel Research. This rate is the highest ever recorded in the City of Atlanta during the month of July.
 
“Occupancy levels in Atlanta are greater than ever before because visitors are discovering what locals have been raving about for years,” said William Pate, President and CEO, ACVB. “From world-class attractions to restaurants that suit every taste, Atlanta is one of the most appealing and dynamic destinations in the country.”
 
Citywide events that contributed to Atlanta’s record-breaking occupancy last month include International Gift and Home Furnishings Market, Alcoholics Anonymous 80th International Convention, Primerica International Convention and American Association for Clinical Chemistry. Combined, these four groups brought an estimated 217,000 attendees to the city with an estimated direct economic impact of $262 million.
 
In 2014, year-end occupancy in the City of Atlanta surpassed 70 percent for the first time in history and the metro area ranked No. 1 in growth among the top 25 U.S. markets, according to Smith Travel Research.
