The Atlanta Board of REALTORS, the largest association of its kind in Georgia, released its September 2015 Market Brief on residential housing statistics for 11 area counties in metro-Atlanta.  Market Brief, now compiled by First Multiple Listing Service, provides the only regionally focused synopsis of monthly sales and home prices for single family residential properties.

Supply: Atlanta area housing inventory totaled 16,511 units in September, an increase of .2% from September 2014. New listings totaled 4,528, up 2.1% from September 2014 and down 5.3% from the previous month. The supply for sales over a 12 month period declined slightly, at 3.9.

Demand: September residential sales were at 4,262, an increase of 12.3% from the previous year.

Price: Average and median sales prices continue to gain traction and outpace 2014’s figures, with positive gains. The median sales price in September was $219,000, an increase of 3.8% from last September. The average sales price was $279,000, up 5.7% from the previous year.

A Word from ABR President Ennis Antoine:  “Low housing inventory continues to directly impact home prices in Atlanta as we move into the Fall season. As expected, we are experiencing slight decreases in sales prices month over month but continue to show an increase year over year. This is something we typically see as a result of seasonality forces on the market and a reflection of moderate, but steady price growth.”
