Representatives of The Cottages at Jekyll Island, the first new residential development on the island in more than 40 years, today announced the development has sold 39 of the 56 homes in Phases I and II. There are only 5 cottages that remain available at Phase I pre-construction pricing.

Situated just steps from the Atlantic Ocean on 14 acres of prime oceanfront real estate, The Cottages at Jekyll Island will feature 123 three-bedroom, three and a half bath luxury cottages inspired by the unique landscape and natural ambiance of Jekyll Island. With floor plans ranging from 1,634 to 1,912 heated square feet with covered porches front and rear, pricing begins at $339,900. In total, there will be four phases of construction.

"We are extremely pleased with the public's response to The Cottages at Jekyll Island," said developer Gary Wadsten of Myrtle Beach, S.C. based Carolina Holdings Group. "Our team has strived to create a unique community that will be viewed as a welcome addition to Jekyll Island. We believe the success of that effort is evidenced in the volume of pre-construction sales generated to date. Construction began in early August 2015 and the first cottage owners should be able to occupy before Christmas."

"The Cottages at Jekyll Island represents a rare and welcomed opportunity for people who love our treasured island," said Jekyll Island Authority Executive Director Jones Hooks. "It has been a pleasure to be part of this process, and we are thrilled to watch it come to fruition."
