Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau announced the city experienced 82 percent occupancy in April, according to Smith Travel Research. This rate is the highest ever recorded in the city of Atlanta during the month of April.

“This milestone is a testament to the entire hospitality community of Atlanta as we continue to build on our tremendous success,” said William Pate, president and CEO, ACVB. “We have great momentum heading into the summer travel season as Atlanta continues to deliver a world-class destination for visitors to experience.”

Atlanta’s strong convention month contributed to the record-breaking occupancy, anchored by four major citywide conventions. Combined, these four events brought an estimated 49,000 attendees to the city with an estimated direct economic impact of $55.5 million.

Along with occupancy increase, Atlanta saw strong growth in the average daily rate at 11 percent. Overall revenue was up 16 percent year-over-year for April, according to STR.
