The National Academy of Public Administrators welcomes Atlanta Habitat President and CEO Lisa Y. Gordon and 49 other leaders from around the nation to its 2016 class of Fellows. The Washington D.C.-based Academy is an independent, non-profit organization chartered by Congress in 1967 to provide non-partisan advice to government leaders at all levels. The Academy’s 800+ Fellows — including former cabinet officers, members of Congress, governors, as well as prominent scholars, business executives, and public administrators — provide broad experience and deep expertise on key public management issues to government agencies as directed by Congress and the executive branch.

“I am deeply honored to be named an Academy Fellow,” says Gordon. “This is an organization with national and international influence, but most importantly; it gives us a seat at the table to help shape national public policy around issues of affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization that impact us on the state and local levels. I hope to engage in ways that empower the work of Atlanta Habitat and other affiliates.”

In addition to her role as Atlanta Habitat’s chief executive, Gordon serves on Habitat for Humanity International’s US Council Advocacy committee.

The Academy’s work supports federal department and agency leadership who are seeking assistance with complex management problems. Fellows address emerging issues and contribute to the intellectual and popular discourse on government through studies created by standing and project panels. 

New Fellows are elected by the entire membership after a rigorous nomination process that takes place each spring. They are inducted as Fellows at the Academy’s Fall Meeting held each November.
