City of Atlanta Reminds Business Owners to Renew Business Licenses

Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO

Thursday, January 5th, 2017

The City of Atlanta announced that businesses will have until February 15, 2017 to file their business license renewal application. Once a renewal application is filed, businesses will have until April 1, 2017 to pay the invoiced amount.

This year, the renewal application and accompanying forms will not be automatically mailed to businesses. All applications and forms can be found on the City of Atlanta website at www.atlantaga.gov.

In an effort to reduce paper waste and increase efficiency, businesses are encouraged to renew their business license, using their PIN, online at https://web.atlantaga.gov/blis/.

Businesses should note that they will be penalized for failing to file. Business owners who do not submit a business license renewal application by the February 15, 2017 deadline will receive a failure to file notice and a $500 fine. Failure to pay your business tax by the April 1, 2017 deadline will result in a 10 percent failure to pay penalty. Unpaid balances accrue a monthly interest fee of 1.5 percent.

For questions about the business license renewal process, please contact the Office of Revenue at [email protected] or by phone at 404-330-6270.
