Delta Community Credit Union Donates Nearly $600K in 2016

Delta Community Credit Union, Georgia's largest credit union with more than $5 billion in assets, invested $580,000 in 2016 in the communities it serves. Schools, chambers of commerce, non-profit groups, industry partners and civic organizations are among the groups benefitting from the Credit Union's sponsorships and charitable giving.

  • The Delta Community Philanthropic fund granted $80,000 to 17 charitable organizations which provide financial education and health and human services support to 274,000 people throughout metro Atlanta.

  • More than $143,000 was invested in financial literacy and education, including classes offered through the Credit Union's Financial Education Center. Introduced in mid-2016, the FEC offers free workshops including Budgeting, Financial Planning for Women, First-Time Home Buying and more.

  • Employees raised more than $100,000 for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, which in 2016 named a Trauma Room at Scottish Rite Hospital for Delta Community in honor of the Credit Union's $2 million in contributions over the last 17 years.

"Educated, healthy and financially literate individuals and families are essential to strong communities," said Delta Community CEO Hank Halter. "We are grateful we have the means and the opportunity to invest in programs and organizations which improve the lives of our members and others who live in the areas Delta Community serves."

In 2017, the Delta Community Philanthropic Fund will distribute a total of $100,000 to organizations committed to financial literacy and improving the lives of young people.
