Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO

Monday, August 7th, 2017

The University of Georgia Small Business Development Center announced more dates for its exclusive program created to help minorities, women, veterans, and people with disabilities understand business loans and how to get financed. The UGA SBDC Credit School is a full-day intensive boot camp designed to teach prospective and existing owners about business loans and credit.

Over the past five years, the UGA SBDC helped small business owners obtain over $722 million in capital raised through loans and equity financing.

“Utilizing its lending expertise, knowledge of SBA and other loan programs, loan packaging skills, and banking relationships, the UGA SBDC Credit School provides startups and small business owners an exclusive opportunity to learn from experts who have already helped thousands secure business loans and talk with  local lenders. This program is designed for minorities, women, veterans, and people with disabilities but also open to any prospective or existing business owners”, explains Drew Tonsmeire, Area Director of the UGA SBDC at Kennesaw State University.

“This program was so popular, we have decided to offer it again at three locations in metro-Atlanta – Clayton State, Kennesaw State and Georgia State. Attendees will learn what SBA loans are (how they work, and how to get one); the impact of negative credit (and what you can do about it); how bankers think; and much more,” states Tonsmeire.

Speakers include: Rosemarie Drake, U.S. Small Business Administration; Lender Relations; Reginald Emanuel, Branch Manager, Cumberland Galleria, PNC Bank; Maria Peck, Director of Hispanic Strategies & Lending, Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs; and Blake Kennedy, SVP, Southeast Sales Manager, Bibby Financial Services (South), Inc.

Sponsored by PNC Bank.

The cost for the full day boot camp is $69, including with breakfast, lunch, and all materials.
