Aprio, LLP, the new name for HA+W, a nationally-recognized, CPA-led business advisory firm headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, announced that it has expanded into the Indianapolis market. Aprio’s expansion into the Midwest will be led by Scott Brown, an Indianapolis-area resident and a former, long-time partner at Katz, Sapper & Miller.
Since 1952, clients throughout the U.S. and across more than 40 countries have trusted Aprio for guidance on how to achieve what’s next. With the addition of Brown to the Aprio team, the firm brings its forward-thinking and advisory mindset to businesses across the Midwest.
“We are excited to be entering the Indianapolis market and are lucky to have a well-known CPA, like Scott, joining the Aprio team,” said Richard Kopelman, CEO and managing partner of Aprio. “Scott’s approach to client service aligns with the advisory approach Aprio is known for. Together we plan to quickly grow our Indianapolis presence and introduce Aprio’s comprehensive advisory, tax and assurance services to this market.”
Brown has over 30 years of experience serving as a business advisor and strategist for growing companies across the U.S., with a focus in the Midwest. He is known for providing clients with astute strategic direction and counsel based on a deep understanding of business operations, owners’ needs and fundamental financial practices. In his role at Aprio, Brown will be focused on growing the firm’s presence and identifying opportunities to bring Aprio’s robust tax, accounting and specialty services offerings to companies in the region.
Prior to joining Aprio, Scott served as the head of the manufacturing and distribution practice at Katz, Sapper & Miller, where he also led the firm’s practice development group and was instrumental in establishing several new practice areas. Scott later founded his own firm, Peak Advisors, a boutique consulting firm that provided strategy and coaching services to mid-market companies in the Indianapolis area.
“I have been fortunate to know Richard and many other Aprio partners for a number of years and have always been impressed with the innovative nature of the firm,” said Brown. “I am excited to be a part of Aprio and to have this opportunity to launch its newest office in a market where I expect Aprio will become a major player.”
