The Atlanta Opera Names Micah Fortson as Managing Director

The Atlanta Opera announces the appointment of Micah Fortson as the company’s new Managing Director.

“Micah has a rare combination of skills in various fields that make him uniquely qualified for this position,” said Tomer Zvulun, General & Artistic Director. “I am thrilled to welcome him to Atlanta at such a pivotal time of growth at our company.”

Mr. Fortson joins The Atlanta Opera from Houston, TX where he served as a litigator for the firm of Fortson, Frazer & Siegrist, P.C. for the past seven years. Prior to his legal career, he spent more than a decade in the arts working in production management and stage management for multiple theatre and opera companies, including the Steppenwolf Theatre, San Francisco Opera, and finally as Director of Production for New Orleans Opera. He holds a Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law, an MFA in Theatre Design and Management from Tulane University, and a BA in Theater from the University of New Orleans.

As Managing Director, Mr. Fortson will serve a key finance and administration leadership position within the company. He will work alongside Zvulun and serve as part of the Senior Management team. Fortson will drive the implementation of the company’s recently ratified strategic plan, and advance the organization’s mission, artistic vision and overall growth.
