Georgia Piedmont Technical College Welcomes New Administrators

Georgia Piedmont Technical College announces the appointment of three administrators to leadership roles in its academic and student affairs division.  
 
“I’m pleased three seasoned administrators have joined the Georgia Piedmont team for the Fall semester,” said Dr. Jabari Simama, president of Georgia Piedmont Technical College.  “Together, they possess many years of proven leadership at several institutions of higher learning.  I’m confident each of them will make valuable contributions to Georgia Piedmont,” he concluded.
 
· Dr. Shawn Thomas is the college’s new director of financial aid.  Thomas brings a wealth of knowledge in financial literacy to her new position.  She has spent over 20 years working in higher education, serving as director of financial aid at public, private and for-profit institutions.  Thomas received a doctor of education degree with a dual concentration in Organizational Leadership and Higher Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in June 2017.  She earned her bachelor’s degree in Finance and Marketing from La Salle University; a master’s degree in Adult and Organizational Development from Temple University; and a master’s degree in Human Resource Administration from Holy Family University.
 
· Kristin Corkhill has been appointed as the college’s new director of high school initiatives.  In this role, she oversees the college’s dual enrollment program, which enables high school students to earn college credits while still in high school. Corkhill most recently served as the director of K-12 relations and dual enrollment at Florida Southwestern State College.  In that role, she directed a dual enrollment college access program that served more than 3,000 students each semester in grades 6-12.  She earned dual bachelor’s degrees in History and Political Science from the University of Florida; she earned a master’s degree in History from that same institution.  Additionally, Corkhill earned a graduate certificate in Community College Administration from the University of Central Florida.  She is currently enrolled in a doctorate program at the University of Memphis.
 
· Christine Hamilton was promoted to director of campus life. In this new expansion of duties, Hamilton will oversee all aspects of campus life.  She previously served as coordinator of clubs and organizations. In that role, she was responsible for managing student organizations, including Georgia Piedmont Technical College’s Student Government Association.  She holds a master of science from Troy University and a bachelor of arts from Long Island University.
