ATL Tech Gives Back Returns This October

Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO

Monday, October 2nd, 2017

ATL Tech Gives Back, a quarterly event series that harnesses Atlanta's passionate technology community for the greater good of the City, will hold its second edition on Thursday, Oct. 19. Hosted by social service platform Community Bucket and startup technology publication Hypepotamus, ATL Tech Gives Back is powered by Cox Enterprises and brings Atlanta's tech and startup community together to volunteer in a fun, social setting.

The inaugural ATL Tech Gives Back event engaged over 160 attendees from 40 companies in a volunteer project with Park Pride. In the second edition, 130 participants will have the option to volunteer with one of three nonprofits (Park Pride, Medshare or Historic Westside Gardens) and then join together for a social activity.

John Ahern, Volunteer Manager at Park Pride said "Volunteer engagement in parks is not only critical to keeping them looking great and helping to meet the needs of its neighbors but is also a great way to build communities. Partnering with Community Bucket on engaging the local tech sector in Tech Gives Back Day not only brings a ton of positive energy, enthusiasm and needed attention to our local parks, it also fosters an incredible team building atmosphere where folks from all over come together over a shared mission. While working together conversations happen, networks are expanded and community is built."

The schedule for the day is as follows:

1:00 p.m.: Volunteers meet at service project location

1:00 - 4:00 p.m.: Service project

4:00 - 6:00 p.m.: Social gathering at Monday Night Brewing

"At Cox, we know that volunteering is a meaningful way to connect with others," said Jami Buck-Vance, Cox Enterprises' director of corporate responsibility and community partnerships. "ATL Tech Gives Back is a great way for startups and technology companies to give back to the community and make a larger collective impact for our city."

Cox Enterprises is an avid supporter of Atlanta's entrepreneurial ecosystem through its participation in Techstars Atlanta, Engage, Endeavor and The Bridge.

Tickets for ATL Tech Gives Back are $15 per individual and include all tools for the service project and admission and drinks at the after-event social. Enterprises, startup incubators and co-working spaces are also able to purchase tickets as a group by contacting [email protected].
