Monthly Construction Contracts Awarded, over $33M in Northeast Georgia

Gainesville’s iconic big green truss bridge on State Route 369 was recently awarded to a contractor for replacement. The 62- year-old bridge, known as Browns Bridge, carries traffic over Lake Lanier will be replaced by Scott Bridge Company, Inc. of Opelika, Alabama. This construction contract totaled $27 million and will be completed in the spring of 2020.

Eight other bridges in the Northeast Region will get some needed attention through bridge rehabilitation projects in Hall and Habersham counties. These maintenance projects will improve the quality of the driving surface and replace expansion joints.

The following structures will benefit from this maintenance project:

 I. US 441 Bus./SR 105 over SR 365 (SR 365/US 23 N), Habersham

2. US 123 (SBL) over SR 365 (SR 365/US 23 N), Habersham

3. SR 365 (US-23) over SR 197, Habersham

4. SR 365 (US-23) over SR 197, Habersham

5. SR 15 (US-23) over Big Panther Creek, Habersham

6. SR 15 (US-23) over Big Panther Creek, Habersham

7. SR 365 (US-23) over Norfolk Southern RR, Hall

8. SR 365 (US-23) over Norfolk Southern RR, Hall

Louis-Company, LLC of Lees Summit, Missouri will complete this work by October 2018, for the contract amount of $485,985.50.

Two resurfacing projects were awarded to the Northeast region; one in Gwinnett and one in Jackson County.

A total of 10.4 miles of resurfacing on Interstate 85 in Gwinnett will be completed in May 2018 by Roadsafe Traffic Systems, Inc. of St. Louis, Missouri. This project starts north of Jimmy Carter Boulevard and extends to north of Old Peachtree Road. The project’s construction contract amount was $936,445.20.
 
Jackson County will have a smoother ride on State Route 11 south of State Route 11 Business extending north of State Route 332. Pittman Construction Company of Conyers, Georgia will complete the resurfacing and shoulder rehabilitation of the 6 mile project by September 2018. The project’s construction contract amount was $4,633,940.95.

Before construction begins on these awarded construction projects, information pertaining to traffic shifts and lane closures will be communicated to the public and media.
