Monday, November 13th, 2017

Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli has been named "Law Firm of the Year" in Health Care by U.S. News & World Report in its 2018 "Best Law Firms" list. U.S. News & World Report recognizes only one law firm in each practice area to earn the prestigious "Law Firm of the Year" designation, highlighting that firm's impressive overall performance from research and methodology. This is the second time in the last four years Polsinelli has earned this recognition, having previously been named "Law Firm of the Year" in 2015.

The “Best Law Firms” list also ranked Polsinelli’s Atlanta Civil Rights Law, Labor & Employment litigation and Product Liability litigation practice areas as tier 1, the highest score.

"I'm extremely proud of our entire health care team of attorneys who strive for excellence each and every day," said Polsinelli Health Care Department Chair Matthew J. Murer. "This Health Care Law Firm of the Year award is a nod to our team's hard work and dedication to providing the best service to our clients, as well as to our firm and leadership for their strong commitment to make our health care practice a national leader in health care law."

With one of the largest and fastest-growing health care practices in the nation, Polsinelli has established an Atlanta team of attorneys which provide comprehensive legal services to health care providers in Georgia and across the country.

In August, veteran regulatory/transactional health care attorney Daniel J. Mohan joined the firm. Mohan represents hospitals and health care systems, physician practices, post-acute care organizations and other health care providers in facility acquisition, sale and merger transactions, joint ventures, service line management arrangements, syndications and other investment interest acquisition transactions, leasing and management service arrangements, and other business arrangements. He also provides counsel regarding hospital-physician alignment strategies and clinical integration arrangements.

"Our growth in the Atlanta office and in our health care practice enables us to continue providing the highest quality service for our clients," said Atlanta Office Managing Partner Brian McEvoy. “Each attorney brings with them exceptional skills and impressive professional credentials to help us remain one of the top law firms in Atlanta and the country.”

The firm also strengthened its Government Investigations and Compliance Practice group, who focus on health care fraud cases and other federal economic criminal matters, with the addition of Ellen Persons. Persons will work closely with former federal prosecutor Brian McEvoy, who last month was elevated to Managing Partner of Polsinelli’s Atlanta office, as well as Chair of the firm's Government Investigations and Compliance practice. His extensive experience litigating civil and criminal health care matters puts him uniquely situated to represent physicians, physician practice groups and other health care providers in almost any type of proceeding.

Persons, a former Assistant U.S. Attorney, has been on both sides of the table for government investigation cases and will provide valuable insight in defending companies against the risks of False Claims Act enforcement and internal investigations matters.

Ranked as the nation's second largest health care practice by the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) last year, Polsinelli's Health Care Department has become a national leader in providing a full-range of health care law services, with a robust team of approximately 185 attorneys, which includes former in-house counsel of national health care institutions, the Office of Inspector General and former U.S. Attorneys and Assistant U.S. Attorneys. Polsinelli's Health Care Department represents a variety of clients in the health care industry, including hospital and health systems, academic medical centers, dialysis providers, specialty pharmacy providers, health information and technology companies and senior housing and long-term care facilities, to name a few.

The 2018 "Best Law Firms" list by U.S. News & World Report also ranked 10 of Polsinelli's national practice areas as Tier 1, the highest score, followed by seven practices with national Tier 2 rankings and 11 practices earning national Tier 3 rankings. U.S. News & World Report also recognizes outstanding practices by metropolitan areas, and 15 Polsinelli offices were included on the 2018 list.

Polsinelli was recognized in 152 total categories on U.S. News & World Report's 2018 "Best Law Firms" list, demonstrating the firm's ongoing commitment to producing the highest quality services and outcomes to clients across the country.
