DreamHack Announces 2018 Global Festival Schedule
Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO
Monday, December 18th, 2017
Saturday, Dec. 9, marks the 23rd anniversary of DreamHack, the world’s largest digital festival. It also marks the beginning of a new tradition, the annual recognition of “DreamHack Day,” celebrating the first DreamHack Winter in 1994. What started as a gathering of friends and their computers in a school cafeteria — with no online access — has grown into a beacon of internet culture and a gathering place for gamers worldwide. DreamHack Day is a time to reflect on past, present and future; and to officially announce next year’s world tour schedule. Watch video here.
“We’re excited to announce our 2018 calendar but also the start of a new tradition, with the establishment of DreamHack Day every year on December 9,” said DreamHack AB Chief Executive Officer Marcus Lindmark. “DreamHack looks back at 2017 with great pride, but we’re even more thrilled about 2018 as we strengthen our position in existing markets and continue developing our festivals.”
DreamHack will host three-day, non-stop festivals in eight major cities in 2018. Last year was important for DreamHack with its expansion into new, North American markets, the introduction of new festival experiences, and the addition of more than 50 new partnerships.. DreamHack will continue innovating and improving the festival experience – both for attendees and fans tuning in from home. Also keep an eye out for enhancements to fighting games, mobile gaming, college esports in the U.S., and new esports titles.
