Mayor David Belle Isle delivered his final “State of the City” and farewell address to approximately 300 attendees at the Hotel Avalon and Conference Center.

In the better part of two terms, Mayor Belle Isle has led Alpharetta to unprecedented heights and economic prosperity. Highlights include: the growth of Alpharetta’s chief industry to over 640 technology companies, 12,000 new technology jobs, a revitalized downtown, the development of Avalon, a technology incubator, a new technical college, the Alpha Loop, the completion of the Greenway, the Hotel Avalon and Conference Center and will leave Alpharetta with a triple-A bond rating.

Mayor Belle Isle said, “it has been a pleasure and an honor to serve as Alpharetta’s mayor. Over the past few years, our city has experienced the greatest economic growth in our 160-year history. We have made Alpharetta an irresistible city and grown a great community of technology companies that have helped Alpharetta to become ‘The Technology City of The South’. There has been a lot of hard work from a lot of talented people and I’m glad to have been part of it.”

John Monson, a former city council member stated, “David’s time as mayor can be summed up in just two words, leadership and vision. Much, if not all that has been accomplished during his tenure can be attributed to his ability to lead towards a common goal and turn that into a reality. Whether it was landing Gwinnett Tech, the completion of Avalon, revitalizing downtown or connecting resources to businesses and the community, David has shown that he’s a true leader and gets the job done.”

Effective February 21, 2018, Mayor David Belle Isle, who is well into his second term, will be turning over mayoral duties to current Mayor pro-tem, Don Mitchell. Belle Isle is running as a Republican for Georgia’s Secretary of State. The Republican Primary is scheduled for May 22, 2018.
