SKULLY Technologies, designer and manufacturer of augmented reality and artificial intelligence wearable technology that enrich and make for a safer mobile experience, selected Atlanta for its global headquarters. The city’s deep technology and engineering talent, thriving startup environment and world-class airport were the major drivers behind the decision. Recently ranked number three in Forbes’ top five U.S. cities poised to be the next technology mecca, Atlanta is home to a number of leading technology-focused universities, startups and global brands.

Located in the city’s midtown neighborhood, SKULLY Technologies plans to build a team of 30 in the next 12 months. Led by Ivan Contreras and Rafael Contreras, successful businessmen with proven experience in the transportation and technology sectors, SKULLY Technologies was established following the acquisition of assets from the former Silicon Valley SKULLY, Inc. The company’s first product, the SKULLY FENIX AR, is expected to begin shipping in the summer 2018.

“At SKULLY, we’re focused on bringing the most advanced and connected smart transportation products to market,” shared Ivan Contreras, co-founder and president of SKULLY Technologies. “To achieve our goals, we needed a city with high-caliber talent, strong commitment to smart city solutions and global accessibility. All great attributes that we found in Atlanta. We’re excited to immerse ourselves into the city and play an integral part in the future of its transportation landscape.”

To further promote its mobility interconnect platform and represent the intersection of technology and transportation in Atlanta, SKULLY joined the Metro Atlanta Chamber, SmartATL, Georgia Power, the Georgia Department of Economic Development and other local regional dignitaries at the Smart City Expo World Congress, which took place Nov. 14 through Nov. 16, 2017 in Barcelona, Spain.

“We are honored to welcome SKULLY Technologies to Atlanta,” said Jorge Fernandez, VP Global Commerce, Metro Atlanta Chamber. “The company’s passion for increasing connections and safety while on the road aligns perfectly with our smart city initiatives. It was a privilege to have SKULLY’s leadership team by our side at the Smart City Expo World Congress to further demonstrate the city’s vast potential to be a global leader in smart city design, and we look forward to the incredible opportunities ahead for Atlanta’s mobility ecosystem.”
