Thursday, March 8th, 2018

Delta Community Credit Union, Georgia's largest credit union with more than $5.6 billion in assets, announces a call for entries in its annual scholarship program. Five applicants will be awarded a total of $20,000 based on academic achievement, community involvement and submission of an essay on a subject selected by the Credit Union.

"As our Scholarship Program enters its 13th year, we are extremely proud of the impact this investment continues to have," said Delta Community CEO Hank Halter. "We know education makes a meaningful difference in building healthy individuals, families and communities. We strive to do our part through the free financial education workshops we offer in our branches; the volunteer and philanthropic efforts we undertake locally; and these annual college scholarships. It is our sincere hope that students who benefit from our scholarships will achieve personal and professional success, so they can make a positive difference, in turn, in their own communities."

The 2018 Delta Community Scholarship Program will award three $5,000 and two $2,500 scholarships to eligible students seeking their first undergraduate degree. It provides funds to cover tuition, books, housing and other expenses. Delta Community's focus on young adults inspired this year's essay topic:

"Delta Community realizes the importance of investing in technology to provide our members with the tools they need to successfully manage their finances. How do you see changes in technology impacting your education and financial future?"

All scholarship applications must be received by March 31 and winners will be notified and announced by May 11. Applicants must be Delta Community members enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university in the United States during the fall semester of the 2018 - 2019 academic year.
