The Atlanta Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors, the recognized authority on leading governance practices, announced the election of Becky Blalock, director, Aspen Aerogels and Hannon Armstrong; Connie Engel, director, BrandBank/Brand Group Holdings, and immediate past chair/trustee, Kennesaw State University Foundation; and Patricia Robinson, independent lead director, Trex, Inc., and director STO Corp., Robinson Manufacturing Company and the Betty and Davis Fitzgerald Foundation. The elections increase membership of the Board of Directors to 13.

“The addition of these three exceptionally talented directors continues to expand the breadth, depth, and influence of NACD’s Atlanta Chapter board,” said Linda Welty, NACD Atlanta Chapter chairman. “I’m delighted to welcome Becky, Connie, and Pat who will add greatly to the diversity of experience on our board. This expansion of our board supports the chapter’s momentum in presenting top-quality programs and helping our director community prepare for tomorrow’s challenges.”

Ms. Blalock serves on the boards of Aspen Aerogels and Hannon Armstrong on the audit, compensation, and risk committees. She is a strategic advisor to Tech Mahindra, a global 200 IT sourcing company headquartered in New Delhi, India. In 2017 she received her cybersecurity certification from the Georgia Institute of Technology and was recently listed in The Financial Times Agenda 50 as a director with skills in new technologies. She is author of the bestselling book DARE: Straight Talk on Confidence, Courage, and Career for Women in Charge. Ms. Blalock is also past senior vice president and chief information officer for Southern Companies.

Ms. Engel is a director at BrandBank/Brand Group Holdings. She is past chairman and current trustee of Kennesaw State University Foundation and was inducted into the inaugural Kennesaw State University Coles College of Business Hall of Fame. Ms. Engel is a partner in the Atlanta Office Division of Childress Klein, with a distinguished career in commercial real estate development, and she currently serves as a board member of the Cumberland Community Improvement District.

“I am thrilled to become a member of the NACD/Atlanta Board of Directors,” said Ms. Engel. “As I continue my board education, I have enjoyed the meeting content and the network of business associates and friends that I have made through NACD. I hope to give some time and energy to the organization that has aided me along this path.”

Ms. Robinson serves as lead independent director of Trex, Inc. and on the boards of STO Corp., Robinson Manufacturing Company, and the Betty and Davis Fitzgerald Foundation. She is a member of the Dean’s Council at the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University and serves on the board of the International Women’s Forum Georgia. She is a past President of Mead School and Office Products, culminating a lengthy career with the parent company.
