The City of Atlanta announced that Channel 26 has been nominated for an Emmy Award by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Southeast for their “WEI Graduates Express Gratitude” video, featuring the first inaugural class of the Women’s Entrepreneurship Initiative. The “WEI Graduates Express Gratitude” video is one of several nominations in the Public/Current/Community Affairs category. The 2018 Southeast Emmy Awards nominees were announced last month in Buckhead.

"This Emmy nomination for a government channel highlights the extraordinary work being done daily by our extremely talented staff at Channel 26,” said Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. “This nomination also shines light on WEI and showcases the great work they do to level the playing field for women entrepreneurs throughout Atlanta."

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences sets the standard for excellence in the television broadcasting industry. The Regional Southeast Emmy Chapter is one of nineteen chapters across the country identifying and celebrating television excellence and expertise on the local and regional levels. The Southeast region represents television professionals from Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina and North Carolina. Channel 26 is up against nominees from WSB and WXIA, among others.

This year’s Southeast Emmy Awards ceremony will be held at the Grand Hyatt in Atlanta on Saturday, June 16, 2018.
