HouseProud Invites Atlanta Companies to a House Party with a Mission

Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO

Monday, June 18th, 2018

HouseProud, an organization that provides free home repairs to low-income seniors, disabled and veteran residents of Atlanta, is hosting their biggest event of the year, a house party that will help change the lives of Atlanta’s seniors, the disabled and veterans who can’t afford to make much-needed repairs to their homes.

The Atlanta House Party is a one-day volunteer blitz with teams from sponsors, including The Home Depot and SunTrust to name a few.  Volunteers come together to provide critical home repairs in one single day — installing gutters, replacing rotting stairs, replacing faulty locks, planting flowers, painting soffits, weather-stripping doors and more. Every detail is covered, from tools and materials to t-shirts, team captains, and digital photos for commemorating the event.

Lisa Jones, HouseProud’s Executive Director, is on a mission to help keep her constituents warm, safe and dry, while combatting the economic changes facing Atlanta communities is important. 76% of seniors on fixed incomes are having to choose between paying for food, utilities and medicine and home repairs are the last thing on their list. Atlanta seniors should not have to make a choice between maintenance and basic necessities. HouseProud’s goal is to get continued support from volunteers and corporate sponsors which will help the more than 150 people on their waiting list get the resources they need.

The Atlanta House Party is a powerful event for the entire community. Volunteers come together to help neighbors who are truly in need of critical home repairs and improvements. It’s an opportunity for HouseProud’s corporate partners to show their commitment to the community by sponsoring homes and providing volunteers on the day of the event.

This year's event will take place Saturday, June 9, so mark your calendar and contact HouseProud’s Lisa Jones to sign up!
