Citi Private Bank announced the opening of the firm’s new Atlanta office catering to the investment needs of ultra high net worth individuals and their families. The office will be located in the Buckhead region. Austin Koenen, Ultra High Net Worth Private Banker, and Doug Poetzsch, Investment Counselor, will initially be heading up the office with new talent expected to join over the next coming months. Both Mr. Koenen and Mr. Poetzsch will report to Luke Palacio, Regional Market Manager – Southeast US, Citi Private Bank. “We are now witnessing a robust growth scenario for wealth creation underpinned by strong demographic and commercial shifts taking place in the South. Atlanta provides an ideal location to pursue this opportunity across the Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky, and also serves as an additional touchpoint for our Southeastern clients,” said Mr. Palacio.

Mr. Koenen joins Citi from JPMorgan Private Bank in Atlanta, where he was a Banker responsible for advising ultra-high net worth relationships throughout the Southeast. He has over 15 years of experience as a Private Banker and Investment Banker. Prior to joining JPMorgan, Mr. Koenen worked in Hong Kong, London and New York as a Vice President in Equity Syndicate for both Nomura International and Lehman Brothers where he was responsible for executing over $30 billion in corporate financings in both the public and private market. Mr. Koenen began his Wall Street career in New York as a Financial Analyst at Morgan Stanley in the Fixed Income Division. He graduated from Vanderbilt University and earned his MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.

Mr. Poetzsch joined Citi Private Bank as an Investment Associate in Spring of 2017. Previously, he was an Associate Equity Sales Trader at Citi, where he covered hedge funds and wealth management firms up to $5 Billion in assets under management. Prior to that, Mr. Poetzsch was a Sales and Trading Analyst on both the FX and Structured Product Sales desks, also at Citi. Mr. Poetzsch is a graduate of Washington and Lee University and a Level III CFA candidate.
