Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP is serving as a founding member of the Georgia Screen Entertainment Coalition (GSEC), an affiliate of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce. According to the GSEC, the founding members consist of Georgia’s top industry and private sector leaders unified by a commitment to preserving the screen entertainment industry in Georgia.

Andrew J. Velcoff, a shareholder in Greenberg Traurig’s Entertainment & Media Practice, will serve on the Steering Committee of the GSEC. Velcoff focuses his practice on entertainment, intellectual property, licensing, and media law. His practice includes a wide range of institutional and individual entertainment and media clients, film and television production companies, sound stages, marketing companies, international franchising, location-based entertainment, multi-artist music specials, on-screen talent, writers, and other clients involved in the development, production, acquisition, financing, marketing, and distribution of content for motion pictures, television, video, the Internet, virtual reality, other traditional and emerging media, motion picture soundstages, and employment agreements. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the State Bar of California.

On Sept. 12, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce announced the launch of the GSEC, which it called a “state-wide advocacy group focused on ensuring the long-term viability and success of Georgia’s screen entertainment industry.” Georgia has become one of the top filming locations in the world, which has created a considerable television and film industry in the state. The GSEC’s stated goal is to bring awareness to the enormous economic impact the screen entertainment business has made on Georgia, as well as protect and promote the growing industry by advocating for policies that support further development.
