Monday, December 3rd, 2018

Coy Bowles, the three-time Grammy award-winning member of the Zac Brown Band and renowned children’s author, announces a major book donation to Reach Out and Read Georgia in support of the nonprofit’s work to increase access to high-quality stories for Georgia’s youngest population.

“Reach Out and Read Georgia is committed at the highest levels to supporting educational outcomes and strengthening parent-child relationships for local families,” said Amy Erickson, Executive Director at Reach Out and Read Georgia. Erickson added, “Coy’s generosity exemplifies the spirit of Georgia to give back to and look out for our neighbors.”

The donation of 1,000 new books will be distributed to local children by health care providers at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Hughes Spalding and select sites across the Metro Atlanta region, as a part of the Reach Out and Read program. Coy was born in Thomaston, Georgia and, as a long-time supporter of the community, Coy writes children's books that highlight relevant issues which provide children and parents a common ground to grow, love and discuss.

Coy explains, “Growing up, people always said, don’t forget where you came from; the state of Georgia has given me more than I could ever imagine. Reach Out and Read is the perfect organization to connect my dedication to literacy with the children’s books that I write in the state of Georgia.”
