The Krystal Company, a Southern fast-food favorite known for its iconic square, steamed burgers, Pups and Chiks, has been selected to compete for USA Today’s Readers’ Choice 2019 10Best for Best Regional Fast Food. One of 20 nominees, Krystal encourages fans to vote online every day until Monday, April 8 at 12 p.m. ET. The 10 best regional fast food chains will be announced on Friday, April 19.

“We’re delighted to be chosen for the 10Best in this year’s competition,” said Paul Macaluso, Krystal
president and CEO. “It’s a tribute to Krystal’s loyal fan base and shows the love our customers have for
this brand and how much they crave our playfully Southern recipes.”

Rather than paying to be listed, nominees for this contest are selected by an independent team of
10 Best’s local travel experts who provide users with travel content from their experiences including
attractions, restaurants and activities in top destinations throughout the U.S. and around the world.

Readers’ Choice voters must be 18 years old and can vote once per day for their favorite fast food chain
until the deadline. All the nominees are located within one primary location in the U.S.

Unlike other QSRs, Krystal has been around since the Great Depression. It’s the South’s original fast-food restaurant and the second-oldest QSR in the U.S. Headquartered in Atlanta, Krystal was born in
Chattanooga, Tennessee and has locations in 11 states throughout the Southeast. Its legacy menu items
are small, snackable and sharable, like the world-famous Krystal burger. Krystal features regionally
inspired limited-time offers (LTOs) like the zesty new ranch bacon which can be added to any menu item.

“Krystal is a one-of-a-kind brand, beloved for generations,” said Macaluso. “We invite travelers who visit
the Southeast to experience one of our 350 locations for unique flavors and food that can’t be found
anywhere else,” Macaluso said.

Krystal’s ranch bacon launched March 18 system wide and can be substituted for regular bacon as an
add on to sandwiches and fries. Additionally, guests can purchase 10 Krystals for $6, five items for $5.55 and meals for $2, $3 and $4, available for a limited time only at participating locations.
