Taylor English Boosts Environmental Group with Addition of Vail Thorne

Taylor English Duma LLP is pleased to announce the addition of Vail Thorne to the firm’s environmental and energy practice.

Prior to joining Taylor English, Thorne served as chief environmental, health and safety (EHS) counsel for The Coca-Cola Company. In that role, he provided counsel to company management and operations worldwide concerning environmental, sustainability, and workplace health and safety matters confronting the company in the U.S. and also globally around the world.

Throughout his career practicing EHS law, Thorne has developed extensive experience in legal compliance counseling, crisis management, civil and criminal enforcement defense, engagement in government rulemaking, strategic sustainability policy and program development, and due diligence and other issues in M&A. Additionally, he has extensive knowledge regarding the laws and regulations governing water resource access and conservation, wastewater treatment and discharge, hazardous and solid waste management, environmental cleanup, climate change and air pollution, SEC and other corporate public reporting, “green” or environmental marketing, HazMat transport, and workplace health and safety, both in the U.S. and in many other countries. Thorne also is knowledgeable on the laws and regulations governing contact with government officials and staff, including campaign finance laws, government ethics rules, and related public reporting requirements.

In addition to his law practice, Thorne previously chaired two committees of the American Bar Association Section of Environment, Energy and Resources: International Environmental Law; and In-House Environmental Counsel.

Thorne earned his law degree from Pepperdine University School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from Washington and Lee University, and previously served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Jesse W. Curtis, United States District Court Judge in Los Angeles, California, and on the staff of the Honorable John W. Warner, United States Senator (Va.), in Washington, D.C.
