Atlanta Experiencing Significant Rise in Luxury Estate Sales

Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO

Thursday, May 23rd, 2019

In the first three months of 2019, Buckhead has seen a 200 percent increase in homes sold for more than $3 million.

Twelve homes have sold for more than that amount in the first quarter, according to First Multiple Listing Service, FMLS. During the same period in 2018, only four homes moved for more than that price.

Dorsey Alston was No. 1 in closed units and volume in Buckhead for homes sold for $3 million or more in the 1st quarter of 2019, according to managing broker Carson Matthews. The 72-year-old company experienced just its second month with over $100MM in total sales volume in April.

“We see a premium in markets like Buckhead, where new construction is yet to catch up with demand, and where people want to live,” Matthews said. “Dorsey Alston is fortunate that many of our agents know Buckhead better than most and have the relationships and the experience to effectively market these luxury estates.”

One of those recent sales is 22 Cherokee Road, a six-bedroom, eight-bathroom single family home, which sold for $4,400,000 in April. Agent Robert Peterson represented the seller in that transaction.

Founded in 1947, Dorsey Alston has a distinguished legacy of real estate service. For more than 70 years, generations of clients have trusted the company and its agents to represent them with integrity, discretion and professionalism. It is the oldest and largest locally-owned residential real estate company.
