Friday, August 30th, 2019

The Atlanta Braves are spreading the love in Atlanta Public Schools with two events at elementary schools on opposite sides of the city, Friday morning.

At Benteen Elementary (200 Cassanova Street, SE), on the city’s southeast side, Braves players and team officials will be on hand for Celebrating Nuestra Cultura (Our People, Our Heritage), presented by Georgia Power. The event aims to engage and educate Latino youth through unique activities celebrating the contributions Latinos make to the game of “béisbol” (baseball). The festivities include a WIFFLE ball clinic, and Georgia Power will present its Learning Power curriculum on energy efficiency to students.

Across town at Boyd Elementary (1891 Johnson Road, NW), Braves officials will present APS with a check for $30,000 to provide students in the District’s Head Start/pre-K programs with snacks for the entire year.

Both events will take place at 11:30 a.m.
