Mark Spain Real Estate on Inc. 5000 List of Fastest-Growing Private Firms a Fourth Straight Year

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Monday, August 19th, 2019

Inc. magazine has ranked Mark Spain Real Estate No. 1,951 on its 38th annual Inc. 5000, the most prestigious ranking of the nation's fastest-growing private companies. The list represents a unique look at the most successful companies within an important segment of the U.S. economy— its independent small businesses.

Companies such as LinkedIn, Zillow, Yelp, Microsoft, Dell and other firms which are now considered household names, first gained national exposure as Inc. 5000 honorees.

Mark Spain Real Estate, on the Inc. 5000 a fourth consecutive year, placed solidly in the top 40 percent of the list, in the No. 1951 spot. The Atlanta-based firm achieved $19.5 million in annual revenue and a three-year growth rate of 206 percent. Mark Spain Real Estate was also recently honored as the No. 1 sales team in America on The Thousand Top Real Estate Professionals, a national ranking based on annual sales production compiled by REAL Trends and advertised in The Wall Street Journal.

With 2,748 transactions in 2018 and total gross sales of more than $702 million, Mark Spain Real Estate averaged more than 10.5 home sales per business day in 2018. And it accomplished these staggering production numbers with a sales team of just 118 members, as of the end of 2018.

According to past reporting by Inc., only 12 percent of all U.S. companies achieve a one-year revenue growth of 25 percent or more. Of the 5000 companies on this year’s Inc. 5000 list, the median three-year growth rate was 157.4 percent and, together, the firms had a combined annual revenue of $237.7 billion.

“We strive to be better every year for our clients, whether it’s our service, response times or upgrading our marketing,” says Chairman and CEO Mark Spain. “For instance, we are now offering a new sale option for home sellers called the Guaranteed Offer. If a seller’s home meets certain requirements, this program will extend an offer. It’s basically selling one’s home without ever having to put it on the market. It then eliminates going through showings, open houses and an unknown waiting period before an offer is received. For some sellers, it’s a perfect fit.”

Spain went on to explain he built the company based on the premise of putting people first. Part of doing that is to make the home buying or selling process as easy as possible for clients and to manage every step of the process with excellence and dedication.

The 2019 Inc. 5000 companies are ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2015 to 2018. So a sustained increase, like the 206 percent three-year sales growth achieved by Mark Spain Real Estate, especially in the competitive residential real estate market, is a substantial accomplishment.

Mark Spain Real Estate was one of only 198 real estate-related firms in America to earn a spot on the Inc. 5000 list (and dozens of these were actually home builders, developers, property management or multi-family/apartment construction firms, not residential real estate companies).
