Thursday, September 19th, 2019

Barrett & Farahany has been distinguished as the most active plaintiff’s firm in Georgia for employment case filings from 2016 to 2018. This news was revealed in the “Employment Litigation in the Southeast” report, published by legal analytics company Lex Machina in August 2019.

The report cites that, from 2016 to 2018, Barrett & Farahany had 291 case filings in Georgia and one in Florida. The 291 filings represent nearly half of the 604 employment case filings in Georgia during that time period. Barrett & Farahany filed all its Georgia and Florida cases in the U.S. Court of Appeals of the 11th Circuit.

“We knew we had been working hard to minimize the abuses of power, discrimination and injustice that employees at all levels endure,” said Amanda A. Farahany, managing partner of Barrett & Farahany. “We’re proud that the facts show our firm as a leader in plaintiff’s employment law in Georgia. We will continue to represent employees in their fight for justice, and to help make a difference for them and their families.” Farahany exclusively represents employees, from minimum wage workers to lawyers to executives, with a strong emphasis on sexual harassment and sexual assault litigation.

The “Employment Litigation in the Southeast” report states that it doesn’t cover state law cases, but rather explores trends and analytics in federal employment litigation within the region. Furthermore:

Lex Machina’s “Employment” case type includes cases with one or more claims of employment law violation, including: 1) discrimination, harassment, or retaliation under federal employment law based in civil rights; 2) wage and hour claims under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA); or 3) interference and retaliation claims under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), which often relate to leave and absence issues.
