Commissioner Arrington named Vice-Chairman of McPherson Redevelopment Authority Board

Fulton County District 5 Commissioner Marvin S. Arrington, Jr. has been voted Vice-Chairman of the Board of the McPherson Implementing Local Redevelopment Authority (MILRA). The Board is responsible for making decisions regarding the future development and usage of the former United States Army base.
 
“It has been an honor for me to serve on this important Board for the last 5 years as we work on reshaping the future of the communities of East Point and Southwest Atlanta,” says District 5 Commissioner Marvin S. Arrington, Jr. “I am pleased to offer input on behalf of the residents of this county as both Vice-Chair and Community Engagement Subcommittee member.”
 
The Fort Mac LRA, also known as the McPherson Implementing Local Redevelopment Authority or MILRA, is a local government agency created by the State of Georgia, entrusted with 145 acres of the former Fort McPherson and its redevelopment following the base closing in 2011. In 2015, Fort Mac LRA became the owner of the property on the former Army post.
 
The Board of the McPherson Implementing Local Redevelopment Authority includes two members of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners. In addition to Commissioner Arrington, Fulton County District 1 Commissioner Liz Hausmann serves on the panel as the Board’s Economic Development Committee Chairman.
