Businessman Jay Lin Announces Candidacy for State House

Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO

Tuesday, November 19th, 2019

Johns Creek Councilman Jay Lin officially announced his candidacy to represent State House District 50 today. A Johns Creek business owner, first generation legal immigrant, and community advocate, Lin will utilize his business acumen as an entrepreneur and dedicated public servant to help promote government efficiency and economic development in order to improve the lives of all Georgia’s citizens.

“For Georgia to excel in the 21st Century economy, we must avoid the poisoned, partisan politics that have crippled Washington,” said Lin. “We must rally together around common sense solutions that expand access to the Middle Class and beyond – lower taxes, great schools, workforce development programs, and an efficient government that solves problems instead of creating them."

As a first-time candidate, Jay Lin was elected to the Johns Creek City Council in 2015. Lin worked to make city services more efficient while maintaining Johns Creek's unique character and quality of life during his tenure.

Guided by his immigrant experience, Jay firmly believes in the American Dream. After immigrating legally from Taiwan to our community in 1986, Lin founded Pacific Venture Inc., a Georgia-based general contracting firm engaging both residential and commercial development and building projects.
Lin was appointed by Governor Kemp as a member of his transition team in Jan. 2019, and currently serves on a number of task forces including the Minority Owned Business Taskforce under Georgians First Commission.

Active in his Christian faith, Lin also serves on the board of "Beyond Sunday,” a non-profit organization focused on marketplace ministry. He was previously a member of Iron Sharpens Iron, a marketplace discipleship program for senior executives, and served as Johns Creek chapter president for Businessmen's Fellowship USA.

Jay and Mimi Lin have two grown, married children: a son, Kevin, a daughter-in-law Kayla, a daughter, Katie and a son-in-law Austin.
