Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms joined City officials, the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, and community partners to break ground on a new housing complex on North Avenue in West Atlanta. The complex is part of the Atlanta Police Foundation’s Secure Neighborhoods program designed to reduce crime, improve community policing and provide affordable housing to Atlanta Police Officers.
 
“The brave men and women that serve our police department deserve to live in the city they protect,” said Mayor Bottoms. “The transformation taking place on the Westside of Atlanta is a key example of what can happen when we harness the power of public-private partnerships. Thank you to the Arthur M. Blank Foundation and all of our partners for keeping safety in mind as you invest into building a better, equitable One Atlanta.”
 
The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, a leading proponent of the transformation of Atlanta’s historic English Avenue and Vine City neighborhoods, provided a $4 million grant to finance the new recruit housing complex that will accommodate Atlanta Police officers in training.
 
The complex is the latest project in the Atlanta Police Foundation’s West Side Security Plan, a foundational program among the West Side transformation efforts and the Westside Future Fund. The complex will feature 12 separate units, with each unit containing one to four bedrooms.
 
The complex is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2020.
