Piedmont Rockdale Nurses Recognized by City of Conyers Mayor, Vince Evans

Staff Report From Metro Atlanta CEO

Wednesday, May 27th, 2020

City of Conyers Mayor, Vince Evans, has recognized Piedmont Rockdale nursing staff, and nurses throughout the country, with a proclamation celebrating National Nurses Week. Nurse leaders representing many of the hospital’s clinical areas were present as the mayor read the proclamation. Evans also thanked Rockdale’s nursing staff for the dedication they have displayed during the COVID-19 crisis.

“It is incredibly thoughtful of Mayor Evans to acknowledge Piedmont Rockdale’s nurses for the compassionate care they provide to our patients each day,” said Leigha Fallis, chief nursing officer for Piedmont Rockdale Hospital. “Our nurses have shown a tremendous amount of resilience throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and it means so much to have the mayor publically recognize their hard work.”

Evans was elected mayor for the City of Conyers in 2017 after serving 17 years on the City Council. He is a pharmacist and has lived in Conyers since 1979. Throughout his career in public life, Evans has been a strong supporter of the hospital and in 2007 was appointed to the Piedmont Rockdale Hospital Board of Trustees.

“Throughout this crisis, I have often thought of the James Taylor song “Shower the People” and the lyric, “Shower the people you love with love, show them the way you feel”, said Evans. “I hope the nurses at Piedmont Rockdale have felt the showering and outpouring of care and love from the community for all their efforts while working under pressure during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
