Delta Community Credit Union was recently recognized for outstanding outreach to members and communities through the Credit Union National Association’s statewide awards.
Southeastern credit unions help people afford life in a variety of ways and, each year, CUNA provides the League of Southeastern Credit Unions (LSCU) with a way to recognize these efforts with a statewide awards program. The program features four awards, which credit unions compete for within categories based on asset size.
The Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Services Award commends a credit union for its outstanding efforts in community projects. The Louise Herring Award for Philosophy in Action honors credit unions that are making exceptional efforts to include credit union philosophy into daily operations. And the Desjardins Financial Education awards celebrates leadership in both youth and adult financial literacy initiatives.
“It’s our pleasure to be able to recognize a few of our member credit unions for the great work they do for their members and communities each day,” said Jared Ross, president of LSCU. “These awards showcase the best of the best in an industry already known for its creative approach to making a financial difference to consumers.”
This year, Delta Community Credit Union won:
-
A first place Desjardins Adult Financial Education Award among credit unions with more than $1 billion in assets with its Delta Community Financial Education Center.
-
A first place Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award among credit unions with more than $1 billion in assets with its Delta Community Youth Financial Education Program.
Delta won two of the three state-wide awards granted to Georgia credit unions affiliated with LSCU. The award-winning submissions from Georgia have been entered in the national awards program administered by CUNA. The results of the national contest will be announced in November.
