One actress, 10 moms and one million problemas in pandemic-influenced streaming performance.

The critically acclaimed and COVID-friendly performance initiative – Our Stage Onscreen – continues with a one-woman show written and performed by Lorraine Rodríguez-Reyes. Mami Confessions was filmed at Aurora Theatre and is available to stream Nov. 20-Dec. 6.

Lorraine Rodríguez-Reyes draws audiences into an unrestricted examination of motherhood. From childbirth to the empty-nest and everything in between, the emotional rollercoaster of maternal love is brought to life through real-life stories from women of all ages and circumstances. Her portrayal of 10 fierce, funny, protective, loving, sad, joyous, proud, unapologetic, remorseful, provocative and amazing mothers is beautifully underscored with live guitar music from Bernie Reyes.

“This has been an amazing personal journey starting with the birth of my first born 10 years ago. After a dream first pregnancy, my perspective on motherhood was unrealistically rosy. That changed after conducting interviews with 25 women and the personal experience of a difficult second pregnancy,” said show star and creator Lorraine Rodríguez-Reyes. “I realized there were fascinating stories I needed to compile and ultimately created Mami Confessions. The play keeps evolving. I have about 25 versions of the script and every time I think I’m done … I rewrite, interview someone new or adjust certain things. The streaming version was influenced by the pandemic. How could it not be?”

Mami Confessions was the winner of the ONE Festival in NYC. The productionwas presented live in 2019 as a part of Teatro Aurora which celebrates and shares the diverse arts and culture of Latinx/Hispanic communities represented in metro-Atlanta. The performance is under the direction of Susan G. Reid, a professor at Georgia State University and casting director for the Atlanta television and film industry. Show star and creator Lorraine Rodríguez-Reyes received her MFA from Harvard’s American Repertory Theatre (A.R.T.)/Moscow Art Theatre Institute for Advanced Theatre Training. She has enjoyed an illustrious theatrical career and audiences might recognize her from her extensive work on television including: CW Legacies, NBC Good Girls, Tyler Perry's The Have's and Have Nots and HBO mega-hit series, The Sopranos as Nurse Ramirez.

The Our Stage Onscreen series showcases solo and small cast performances to employ artists and provide a safe space for creativity. Audiences will engage in the next-best thing as Aurora Theatre brings the mainstage to the living room television.
