Jim Ellis Automotive Group donated $65,000 to The Empty Stocking Fund (ESF) raised through their annual Holiday Giving Campaign. The fundraiser has been a long-standing holiday tradition in which a portion of all new or pre-owned vehicle sales are donated to a deserving organization. The group’s Holiday Giving Campaign took place from November 27 to December 31, 2020 with all 19 Jim Ellis family-owned and operated dealerships participating in the cause-based event.
“It gives my team and I great honor to lend a helping hand to children and families in the communities we serve,” said Jimmy Ellis, president of Jim Ellis Automotive Group. “It has been a difficult year for several families and our hope is that this contribution can help bring joy to those who need it most.”
Each year, ESF serves tens of thousands of metro Atlanta children in need where nearly 200,000 gift items are distributed. Children from birth through 12 years of age living in the metro Atlanta area and surrounding counties are eligible to receive gifts from the Empty Stocking Fund. The nonprofit organization provides toys and gifts to disadvantaged children during the holiday season and school supplies throughout the year to support positive social and emotional development and academic success.
“This is an extraordinary honor and we are so grateful for this gift. This donation will help us serve more than 3,000 children this holiday season and it comes at a time when need is greater than ever,” said Manda Hunt, executive director of The Empty Stocking Fund. “This is also the single largest donation our organization has ever received in our nearly 100 years of history. This donation will go a very long way during a very difficult time.”
The donation was made just prior to the end of the event so as not to keep ESF from missing out on having these donation funds to spend on children for Christmas 2020. This donation will provide 3,000-4,000 children with gift packages this holiday season and marks the largest donation that ESF has received since their inception in 1927.
