Bennett Thrasher Welcomes New Chief Human Resources Officer Melisa Cook to the Firm

Melisa Cook, PCC, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, ELI-MP, joins Bennett Thrasher, one of the nation’s largest and fastest-growing certified public accounting and consulting firms, as the new Chief Human Resources Officer responsible for the 350-employee firm’s human resources department and people experience. Melisa will help to grow the firm’s footprint orchestrating key hires in new and emerging markets and continuing to build upon the firm's culture of inclusivity and flexibility.

Recently serving as PwC's Southeast Market People Leader, Melisa Cook brings Big Four accounting firm experience to her new role. With more than 20 years of experience, Melisa implemented that firm’s National Human Capital and Inclusion strategy and has excelled at leading a variety of initiatives including career development, executive coaching, facilitation of learning, diversity & inclusion, as well as recruiting and retention. Beginning her career with the United Way of Metro Atlanta, Melisa brings the nonprofit organizational culture and people-first mindset to her work.

Melisa holds a degree in Communication from Kennesaw State University and credentials as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and Professional Certified Coach (PCC) through the International Coaching Federation. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management, the National Association of Black Accountants, Ascend, and the Association for Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting.
