The Atlanta Women’s Foundation Elects Five New Members to Board of Directors

The Atlanta Women’s Foundation (AWF) has elected five new members to its Board of Directors. The new class of board members are leaders in their field and the community, representing a range of industries from across Atlanta. Under Board Chair Meredith Leapley, AWF will continue to strategically grow its grantmaking, women’s leadership programs, and fundraising. 

“As we all know, the pandemic has severely impacted women, meaning the work of AWF has never been more important,” said AWF CEO Kari Love, “Critical to our success is continuing to develop a strong Board of Directors. These five new board members represent Atlanta’s diverse professional sector and bring a fresh perspective.”

AWF Board Chair and Founder and CEO of Leapley Construction Group, Meredith Leapley added, “The entire AWF Board is excited to welcome our newest members. They bring a passion for AWF’s mission that will guide the organization into its next phase.”

 Joining the AWF Board of Directors are Juliet Asher, M.D., P.C., Keisha Duck, Elizabeth K. “Bess” Hinson, Michael Lawings, and Angela M. Spivey.

Dr. Asher is board certified in internal medicine. Prior to opening her concierge medical practice, Dr. Asher practiced with Piedmont Physicians Group beginning in 2001. She received her medical degree from Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York and completed her internship and residency at New York University Medical Center.

Keisha Duck is Vice President of Talent, Learning & Culture for Cox Automotive. She is responsible for the TLC team that consists of global learning, talent, org solutions and culture. With her team, Keisha is responsible for supporting the team member experience across Cox Automotive. Keisha graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from Clemson University where she also earned her master’s degree in human resources development.

Bess Hinson is a Partner at Morris, Manning, & Martin, LLP. As Chair of the Cybersecurity & Privacy Practice, her primary areas of concentration include cyber and data risk management and governance, breach preparedness and response, crisis management, and global data privacy compliance. Bess received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Yale University, a Master of Studies from the University of Oxford, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan.

Michael Lawings is the Regional Director – Real Estate & Facilities – Americas for Microsoft Corporation. As Regional Director for Microsoft’s Global Real Estate and Security organization, Mike leads a team responsible for delivering connected, accessible, sustainable global workplaces for the best employee experience in North and South America. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Hampton University, and a master’s degree in Building Construction & Integrated Facility Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Angela Spivey is a Partner at Alston & Bird. She co-leads Alston & Bird’s food & beverage industry team and provides defense and counsel for food manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, retailers, and packaging entities in a host of FDA, USDA, and CBP regulatory compliance issues and litigation. Angela received a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Alabama and a Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi.
