Hosea Helps Has A New Home and Headquarters in Southwest Atlanta

Tuesday, October 12th, 2021

Hosea Helps, Inc. is thrilled to announce the grand opening of its new headquarters in Southwest Atlanta. This beautiful 24,000 sq ft newly renovated building will house their human services department, executive offices, commercial kitchen space, conference room, and warehouse space all

under one roof.

The grand opening celebration will take place on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at the new Hosea Helps headquarters located at 2545 Forrest Hills Drive, SW Atlanta, GA 30315. The festivities begin with a press conference and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:00 am, followed by tours of the new facility and a VIP

reception featuring live music, champagne toast, lunch, and remarks. This celebration marks the beginning of the next chapter for the nonprofit as they celebrate their 50th anniversary in their new home and headquarters.

After being displaced from the previous headquarters on Donnelly Ave in 2017, as a result of gentrification, Hosea Helps found themselves without a home. For the past four years, Hosea Helps has been a nomadic organization moving from one warehouse to another. They operated out of multiple temporary facilities in order to

continue providing the services that were so desperately needed by so many.  The team at Hosea Helps never stopped working to provide these essential services to help Metro Atlanta’s most vulnerable citizens get back on their feet even through their own displacement and the global pandemic.

In addition to celebrating its new headquarters, Hosea Helps is celebrating its 50th anniversary of service. Hosea Help has a long, rich history that grew out of the Civil Rights Movement. Hosea Feed The Hungry and Homeless (HFTH), as it was formerly known, was started by the late Hosea L. Williams and his wife Juanita T. Williams with a mission to feed the hungry. The organization fed Atlanta's unsheltered population for many years until its founders passed away in 2000. After the death of her parents, Elizabeth Omilami and her husband Afemo Omilami took the reins and began to expand the organization's reach. Currently, Hosea Helps, Inc. touches 51,000 people every year through its expanded programs which include homeless prevention, Hosea on the Move mobile unit, Children’s services, Self-sufficiency programs, Nonprofit Capacity Building, U.S. And

International Disaster Relief Efforts in addition to providing annual holiday dinner events and emergency food boxes. These efforts are made possible by a small but mighty staff of 21 and a host of volunteers and supporters.

Elizabeth Omilami, CEO of Hosea Helps, is one of few African American women to lead a Foodbank and Human Services Organization of this size and scope in the country. Hosea Helps is the largest historically significant Human Services Organization in the Southeast region of the United States and continues to grow and expand its

service to reach into more communities and support other organizations to do the work of eradicating poverty. Over the past 20 years, Elizabeth Omilami has been the force behind the nonprofit that feeds those who are hungry, provides hope to those who feel hopeless, and uplifts those who are down. Following in the footsteps of legendary icon and activist Rev. Hosea Williams, Elizabeth and Afemo were moved to help those in need and have not veered from the path. The mission; to investigate and raise public awareness about the problems facing families and individuals at risk of slipping into poverty or that are living in poverty, and then to mobilize financial resources, products and volunteers to solve those problems and stabilize those households, remains true under the leadership and direction of Elizabeth and Afemo Omilami.

This grand opening celebration will be an outdoor, covid safe event, and guests are encouraged to RSVP. For more information on Hosea Helps and its programs, visit the website at www.4hosea.org, or follow on social media @4Hosea. For media inquiries, please contact [email protected]
