Flux Projects Presents Multi-disciplinary Artist Rachel Parish’s Emergence

Staff Report

Thursday, September 22nd, 2022

Flux Projects will present multi-disciplinary artist Rachel Parish’s Emergence, a series of temporary monuments to the four spring heads, paved over decades ago in the name of progress, that lie directly beneath Downtown Atlanta. As we continue to grapple with city-wide flooding, Emergence will illuminate the power of our natural ecology beneath built environments and the continued presence of the life-springs that sustain us.
WHAT Emergence will feature sound and sculptural installations at the above- ground sites of the spring heads, as well as daily performances.
WHERE These sites are host to some of the city’s key civic and public institutions, including:
Grady Hospital – Jessie Hill, Jr. Drive and Armstrong Street
Georgia State Capital – Georgia Plaza Park (across Washington Street from the State Capital)
The Tabernacle – Lucky Street and Ted Turner Drive (site is the parking lot across the street)
The Gulch – Alongside the MARTA Five Points Station (Forsyth Street side)
WHEN Friday, Sept. 30 – Sunday, Oct. 2

Installations & Performances 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
