Ivy Preparatory Academy at Kirkwood has been awarded an emergency $32,600 grant to support wellbeing on the school’s campus. The grant was made possible through funding provided by the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta (TogetherATL General Fund) in coordination with the State Charter Schools Foundation of Georgia.

According to Dr. Charcia Nichols, Head of School, “We are immensely grateful to the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta TogetherATL General Fund and the State Charter Schools Foundation of Georgia for their generous support of Ivy at this critical time in the life of our school.”

The grant will fund mental health counseling for Ivy scholars and staff, protective barriers in front of the school, and other essential supports in response to the November 7, 2022, car crash into the school building. The vehicle struck the school building, impacting a classroom during instructional time. Two students were injured with non-life-threatening injuries, and the entire school community has been impacted by the event.
