Kennesaw State Collaborates on Community Projects to Address Global Issues Locally

Staff Report

Friday, March 3rd, 2023

Kennesaw State faculty and staff will lead six projects during the 2022-23 academic year as part of the Atlanta Global Research & Education Collaborative (AGREC) program.

KSU is one of six AGREC-affiliated universities, including Georgia Tech, Emory University, Georgia State University, Spelman College and Agnes Scott College.

AGREC bolsters global engagement by supporting “global at home” projects that empower students, faculty and community partners to use research, education and action on global issues. Since its 2020 launch, AGREC has supported 26 interdisciplinary research and education projects. Eleven projects will be funded by a $105,000 allocation this year.

“Being part of AGREC has allowed us to support several exciting and innovative projects that will benefit Greater Atlanta and the global community. We are proud that half the awarded projects are from KSU faculty members,” said Lola Owokoniran, Global Education’s director of community engagement and outreach. “We look forward to seeing how these initiatives will benefit our region and strengthen collaborative partnerships in the future.”
